World Peace Forum

7th World Peace Forum, 16-20 May 2013 - Schengen (Luxembourg), Perl (Germany), Apach (France)

The World Peace Forum is established as a worldwide platform to enhance the exchange of best-practice between those active in the field, i.e. peace activists and peace initiatives.  This is achieved by means of workshops, publications, projects, conferences, exhibitions and virtual activities by which we carry the message of peace into daily life.
We invite all interested parties to an annual forum in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. The Forum also conducts conferences globally, carrying across the world the “Spirit of Schengen” which is the spirit of a world without borders.

Delegates

The World Peace Forum brings together a large number of professionals of all backgrounds and from all corners of the Earth, who share their expertise as volunteers. We understand “Peace” as a “commodity” to which all human beings must have a right of access.

Luxembourg, 11 May 2013: The 2013 World Peace Forum is taking place from Thursday 16 to Monday 20 May 2013 at the Schengen Lyzeum in Perl, Germany (just across the river from Schengen, Luxembourg).
BACKGROUND
Established by the non-profit organisation, the Schengen Peace Foundation, in 2007 and recognised by Luxembourg’s Grand Duke Henri, the World Peace Forum is organised by a group of volunteers engaged in peace efforts and led by its president, Dominicus H. Rohde.
The World Peace Forum presents a worldwide platform to enhance the exchange of best practice between existing peace activists and peace initiatives, inviting all interested parties for participation and support. Additional related conferences and other events are conducted around the world, further bringing the 'Spirit of Schengen' to the world.
The aims and goals of the World Peace Forum are:
  • to encourage free discussion on peace issues and related matters between all interested parties;
  • to promote peace into major areas of human life, from business activities to the arts; and
  • to institutionalise peace by placing it onto the agendas of governments and organisations globally.
The World Peace Forum counts on the support of a growing number of Nobel Peace Laureates including South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu as well as Argentine peace activist Adolfo Perez Ezquivel and former Luxembourg Prime Minister, Jacques Santer.
The Schengen Peace Foundation and the World Peace Forum are funded by public donations and sponsorship.

2013 WORLD PEACE FORUM
The 2013 World Peace Forum takes place between Thursday 16 to Monday 20 May 2013 and comprises a comprehensive programme involving keynote speeches, panel disucssions and workshops, as well as themed meals and a cultural programme (see below).
The event attracts an ever-growing number of peacemakers who are coming to Luxembourg in order to present their peace projects and ideas, their efforts and ways to build a more peaceful world. As a result, the World Peace Forum is becoming a broader platform for best practice exchange and a market place for peacemakers.
As in previous years, speakers and delegates are expected from all corners of the globe, including North and South America, Asia, Africa and Europe. In total, circa 40 countries will be represented at the 2013 World Peace Forum, with the delegates attending the events in Perl & Schengen and other official partner events worldwide. Around one hundred experts and speakers will be involved in conducting workshops and conferences.
