Derinkuyu Underground City of Cappadocia.
There is someone living in the place there are pierced bizarre mushroom rocks. -It's a look of Cappadocia.
When you arrive in Cappadocia, it can't help gaping because of full of weird rocks that you see for the first time in your life anywhere you look there.
Cappadocia, located in 320km southeast of Ankara that is the capital city, is the place channels of trade like silk road passed, so wars were constant there.
In Cappadocia, a lot of christians had set there, avoiding persecution.
It's said all the christians who took refuge from persecution lived, moving the ground and underground that hittite dug in to protect it from attack from outside.
The place they hid when enemies came, and went out to the ground when enemies left, Derinkuyu Underground City that disappeared in history was found by a farmer accidentally in a village of Turkey in the 1960's. And it's said by guides, he was getting suspicious that chicken were disappeared over and over again, and one day, he saw one of chicken that he raised running and stepping into a hole, so on the way he tried to find the chicken, he found Derinkuyu Underground City.
Derinkuyu Underground City is made under the ground on average 50-70m(maximim depth 120m) deep as huge size. They dug under the ground and then made facilitates like schools, halls, cafeterias and churches.
They are until the 8th basement level, water can be used from undergraound, and the cave long is 32km full lengths.
This kind of underground city is scattered that's why it's estimated it's connected with other cities, but the excavation is not complete yet.
On the lowest floor is almost wells, that's the reason why this underground city is called 'Derinkuyu(a deep well)'.
The entrance toward the underground city is very small, and round-big stones were there, in case of invading of enemies in every passage to keep them from coming in by blocking the entrance with big stones when it's emergency.
It's easy to lose the direction when you walk in the cave like a maze for Derinkuyu. It may be hard to come out without a sign.
The 1st basement level of Derinkuyu is made for the pen, feed storage, winery, and theological school,
the 2nd basement level is made for the residence,
the 3rd basement level is made for the storage and well,
the 4th basement level is made for the residential space,
the 5th basement level is made for the ventilation shaft,
the 6th basement level is made for the residential space,
the 7th basement level is made for the church,
and the 8th basement level is made for the small room and ventilation shaft.
I can't imagine how hard it was the life that made an underground city by digging the ground and lived there without sunlight to live.
Like this, there has been many wars and deaths because of race or religion.
