meaning of shamrock

The clover which is the birth flower of June's flower language is influence, promise, fortune, peace and bright.

In Ireland, there is a beautiful superstitious story that the three leaf clover blocks devil and satan with the holy father, holy son and saint as a trinity.
This story is arised when Saint Patrick was on mission in Ireland he compared the three leaf clover as trinity in his sermon.
Four leaf clover also has the meaning of fortune, and they sits together on the field of clover and finds the four leaf clover share their love.
When Napoleon finds the four leaf clover on the war it was so marvelor bends over to pick it up, luckly the bullet had passed over his head so that he could save his life and he was able to become imperor. Since then four leaf clover is known as symbol of fortune.
There are also five leaf clover but it is the symbol of bad luck.

Knockin' On Heaven's Door

                                       Knockin' On Heaven's Door
 Sung by Bob Dylan

Mama, take this badge off of me I can't use it anymore
It's gettin' dark, too dark for me to see  I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door.
Mama, put my guns in the ground I can't shoot them anymore
That long black cloud is comin' down  I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door

Knokin' on heaven's door is a folk songwriter,
Bob Daylan's own song. Bob Dylan's musical characteristic is rebellious and this song was played in the movie 'knokin'on heaven's door'.
This song was remade by many famous singers.
I think of many people who are suffering from wars when I listen to this song.
I can picture of cruel scene of killing each other.
For whom is the war intended?
It would be hard to have true peace if we kill somebody by having war and place hatred in our heart.
I truly hope the time would arrive when war ended and be in rest.

Malala Yousafzai

When Nobel Peace Prize was awarded on November of 2013, a person missed the prize.
She is Malala Yousafzai, human right activist, was the youngest ever to nominate at 16.

She reported the reality of Swat Valley where was under the yoke of Taleban on BBC Blog, and then she criticized destruction of girls’ school, shouting out for education of women and peace, which made the world pay attention to her.

In the same year, Pakistan government started an operation on a large scale to make them step back out of Swat Valley, and the government opened her name to the public and gave her a peace award.
After that, she had been give speeches at where was hosted by the government, but she got threatened by Taleban and even got a shot, escaped death by a miracle in 2012 and started speaking out her voice for education and peace.

What makes me sad is the reality that people threat and shot those who speak out for education and peace.
I am sure that the education she has been shouting includes peace education. There is an answer about peace as well.
It’s not just a problem for one country.
I think Peace is possible when all of us become one.

The Berlin Wall

Germany won the World Cup this year

Germany reminds us of beer, sausage, and soccer, doesn't it? Besides, one more thing that strikes me is the Berlin Wall.

The Berlin Wall was built in 1961, and it separated Germany into East and West. As a result, more than five-thousand Germans tried to escape from 1961 to 1999. Maybe 100-to-200 of these people are estimated to lose their lives. It is so heartbreaking of the tragedy to take place in the same country.

But Germany was perfectly united in October, 1990, and Nowadays the Berlin Wall has become a big tourist attraction.

In order to achieve the unification, Germany must have undergone a lot of work, many trials and errors. However, Germany has developed all the better for overcoming agonies of pain. Watching the unification of Germany, so many emotions crossed my mind.

Big Fish 2003 – Tim Burton, Ewan McGregor and happy fantasy movie

Big Fish 2003 – Tim Burton, Ewan McGregor and happy fantasy movie.

Big Fish, 2003
Director : Tim Burton
Cast : Ewan McGregor(Young Edward Bloom), Albert Finney (Senior Edward Bloom)

I found movie Big Fish searching for movies.
Scenes from movie were fantastic, and it felt like a fairytale.
The movie is about The Blooms.
Will Bloom, son of Edward Bloom, was sick of his dad’s brags, and not talking to him at all.
After he was told that his dad was on a critical situation, he stayed by his dad at home.
Even though Will Bloom grew hearing about his dad’s experience, now he was taking those experiences as a fantasy that could not be fulfilled in a real world.
Content of Experience : Edward Bloom saw how he would end up his life from a witch in town.
The story of him having a trip with a giant.
The story of him getting to work at circus troupe to know about a woman he loved.
A circus master was a werewolf and so on.
Then the son asked his dad to tell him real stories of him, not absurd things.
But, he got people laughing with those stories that might be coming from fairytales.
Edward Bloom watching it got complaints.
When he was taking care of his dad’s storage, Edward Bloom got to trace past of his dad to find out the truths about his dad.
In doing so, he found out that his stories were not fake, and that his dad was staying true, and he got to knew that his dad was not a liar but a person who could turn an ordinary life into a beautiful story.
The son closing the eyes of his father made more fantastic story to tell his father.
---------

Tim Burton’s fantastic scenes and his shooting effects made the movie more fun.
Watching the movie, I felt that if a life that I am living is boring and not fun, that life is not changeable.
That life can be so fantastic that it even can turn into a story.
There is no boundaries between fantasy and reality.
Also, I felt like listening to my dad’s story making my heart warm and like being a child.
I hope our lives will be full of fun and beautiful stories.
I would recommend you to watch Big Fish if you have not watched it.

The Wall in honor of Peace

France is famous for art and a lot of well-known architectures such as the Eiffel Tower, the Versailles Palace, etc. More than that, did you know that the wall in honor of peace stands behind the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France?
The wall in honor of peace is located across from the Eiffel Tower. It is said that peace-related expressions are written in different language of each country, on both sides of the window.

We can see many kinds of language gathered in one place there. This gives us an idea that all the nations of the world wish for peace equally. Likewise, peace-related expressions are written in different language of each country, on a circular column next to the wall of glass. If every place is dotted with peace-related expressions, it seems that peace will come true all over the world.

There are many buildings or architectures in honor of peace in each country in the world. All the architectures built the architectures to get desires for peace together. It sure would be great if such minds gather in swarms as soon as possible and can make peace around the world!

Mother Teresa

She was born in Skopje of Macedonia and her religious belief was extraordinary. She became a nun at the age of 20. From 1929 to 1948 she taught students at the school in Calcutta. After the Second World War she saw many sick and starving people, she decided to help them. After she got medical information, she left monastery. Living in the ghetto, she shared her love to poor people. She took care of orphans and taught how to read and write to children who couldn’t go to school.
She also looked after leprosy patients and made a place they were treated. Without much explanation, many people will know she was a person who sacrificed a lot. Everyone has desire to be loved and get recognized. “Did she want to live a life as a woman? Did she want at least once to live a ordinary life?”, the reporter thinks over.
Away with such many thoughts, she relied on religion deeply and with the happiness which could get by helping other people she could win fights against herself enduring much time. Because she could win against herself, she would be able to lead such a life of sacrifice. For she was also a human being, she perhaps had a time she was very exhausted and wanted to give up all of things. But her strong spirit to overcome all these things is an example to follow truly.

Argentine&Chile city of peace

Argentine is well-known for soccer and abundant passion, and Chile is famous for grapes and coexistence of four seasons.

These two countries, located border to border, had been at strife with each other. Especially in 1899, there was a hair-trigger situation, due to the border dispute, However, what is the current state? These days they are on peaceful terms with each other.

How was it possible? The religious leaders of each country in those days, appealed for peace between the two countries. Love is the only way for the two countries to maintain peace. War and hatred just hand over to blood and massacre as a heritage to our descendents," The people of each country listened to their appeals. They melted the cannons to erect a bronze statue of Christ on the Andes Mountains, along the Argentina-Chile border.
The two countries still now have been maintaining peace for more than one hundred years.

Nowadays peace messenger Lee have also claimed not to hand over the wars to the descendents. Once such kinds of mind spread, peace will surely come on this land as soon as possible. Don't you think so?

Nature of Plant (written by John Dawson, Rob Lucas)

Plants can be seen anywhere in the world. But, the world does not seem to be oyster to them. They have been surviving in an extreme environment as a plant which has to challenge adjusting. How did they survive in an extreme environment ‘Nature of Plant’ leads the world of plant where they settled but seems to be unlivable. As people travel from ocean to mountain, from the equator to the pole, from desert to wetland, you can go travel seeing plants. Also, you can see creative ideas and unbelievable ability to adjust of plants. Seeing the way for plants to live, you will feel the nature of plants like the title of this book. Plants take the responsibility of every plant by using photosynthesis which uses solar energy. Where might be perfect for plants to live? Wherever has sunlight and water, it is a paradise for plants. However, how many place on earth could be considered as a paradise by plants? Forest that barely gets sunlight in the shades of tall trees, sandy soils where rain often disappears, the ocean and the flood plain where water flows and seem uneasy to breath, the pole which does not have water or soils to sprouts. When there is a big fire, they turn into ashes in an instant, winds are hard to stand, there are even herbivores which eat them out. Place where plants can settle hardly exists. This book makes you feel the value of earth and environment in the process of knowing the nature and the growth process of plants.

The dove is an emblem of peace

Today, I would like to introduce to you about dove that symbolizes peace. We all know that the dove symbolizes peace but have you wondered why?

The reason why the dove symbolizes peace is that it started from the event of Noah’s Ark from the Bible.

When you look at the story of Noah’s Ark, it says that God judged the world with a great flood. It lasted for a very long time and Noah could not know when the flood will end, so he used a dove. The reason is because doves have homing instinct. That is why he used this habit of returning home and sent a dove. It says that when he sent the first dove, it returned empty handed. When the second dove was sent, it brought with it a branch from the olive tree. Lastly, when he sent the third dove, it did not return. The dove became the symbolism of peace because of the story of Noah’s Ark wherein the dove brought back a branch, showed that the flood was over and the earth was showing, and symbolized that the disasters has ended and hope has came. Also, during the Olympic, the peace festival, people released the doves together from the stage of unity which even engraved more in people’s mind that the dove symbolizes peace.

Symbol of Peace:  Olive tree

When you think of the symbol of peace, what comes to your mind first?  Dove?  Mark of peace?

Today I am going to post about the symbol of peace, olive tree.  It is commonly used at home in the form of olive oil.  Have you ever heard that this tree is the symbol of peace?  Why did this olive tree become the symbol of peace?

In June 2014, Pope Francesco. Israeli President Peres and the head of Palestinian National Authority called Abbas, reportedly planted together the olive tree, symbol of peace, in one area of the garden of the Vatican.  How has the olive tree happened to mean the peace to each one of the three religions, Catholic, Judaism, and Islam?

Olive is said to symbolize the peace, along with 'dove,' in Catholic and Judaism.  According to the biblical story of Noah’s Ark, Noah let loose a dove to find their dwelling place after the world was deluged by the flood.  It was an olive-branch that the dove brought in her bill.  It was a sign that there was a dry soil.  People say that Olive tree appears as many as seven times in the Qu'ran, the Islamic holy book.  In the Qu'ran, olive is reportedly described as 'the fruit to eat in the heaven,' along with fig.  It is written among the Qu'ran passages that even unlit olive oil shines clearly.  Islam suppose that's because olive is a holy tree.

In addition to that, Olive has another meaning of 'victory.'  That's why the winner of the festival held in Olympia, in ancient Greece, was crowned with the olive leaf wreath.

What can we notice from the fact that pope and world leaders planted olive all together?  Obviously we are all of one mind to end the wars and make the world of peace.  We really hope that we will be free from all kinds of wars, such as religious problems, territorial wars, and fights caused by resources.

We do want to see peace prevail and the whole world filled with peace!

about Martin Luther King Jr

In 1955, after a full day’s work, Rosa Parks got a bus home. The bus was ‘full’ in the sense that all the seats for white Americans were in use. Parks was seated in a seat for black Americans. A white man got on board and found that all the ‘white’ seats were full. The bus driver told four black Americans to move further down the bus. Three complied but Parks refused to give up her seat and was arrested.
In protest, a boycott of the buses by black Americans in Montgomery began. It was probably the first example of the economic clout that the community had because eventually, the bus company had to desegregate their buses or face serious financial difficulties as very many black Americans used the buses.

The Montgomery Bus Boycott brought the subject of racial segregation to the forefront of American politics. A lawsuit was filed against the racial segregation laws. In addition, the boycott had created a new leader for the civil rights movement in Martin Luther King, Jr. and E. D. Nixon.

The boycott was important because it caught the attention of the entire nation. People around the country were made aware of the event because it was launched on such a massive scale and lasted for more than a year. Furthermore, the Montgomery Bus Boycott was important because it set the tone for the whole civil rights movement. In particular, the boycott gave Martin Luther King a position of leadership within the national movement and showed that the nonviolent method of protest was effective which he was influenced by Gandhi who resist without violent.

Martin Luther King Jr. was faithful pastor and devoted all his lifetime for black people’s rights. It’s the prejudice against black people and just because you have black skin and that doesn’t mean they are inferior. Even those fine looking man, inside their thought would been all rotten or outside it may don’t have the look but inside is all good.  Now we should know better that we don’t judge a person by outside, people are a lot more than just about the color of skin.

Beautiful girls in bloom from the midst of painful histories

There are many kinds of beauty pageants in the world including the Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, Miss Asia Pacific World, Super Model Contest, etc. A lot of beautiful girls are chosen in all the beauty contests.

Today we are going to introduce beautiful girls in bloom from the midst of painful histories, above all the beauties from the pageants.

After Angola’s independence from Portugal in 1975, Angola has been under a civil war for as many as 27 years. Not only Angola but also the United States, the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, and South Africa, got involved in the Civil War. At that time, even Congo, next to Angola, stepped in though Congo was suffering from its own civil war. The Civil war resulted in the considerable number of more than five hundred thousand casualties.

Angola civil war can be called a struggle to seize power, which took place between three main tribes of Angola, and strong nations which coveted natural resources. MPLA armed its soldiers by selling petroleum, and rebel forces armed their soldiers by selling diamonds. Despite its abundant underground resources, it was not the people of Angola but their armies that could enjoy the benefit of the resources. One of the military benefits was
just landmines. It is said that no one knows how many landmines were laid during the Civil War. They must have laid landmines at random. People say that France has supported rebel forces with weapons for a long time. Above all, the biggest supporter of the weapons has been the United States. Even though the Civil War was over, the strong nations are still in war without a gunshot, using the resources of Angola.

During the Civil War, landmines were laid by government army, rebel forces, and foreign troops.
Unfortunately, it is the landmines that still seek the lives. In 2003, Angola landmine beauty contest was held. All the women who take part in this contest are the landmine victims. For the most part, they have only one foot because they were injured by the landmine causing ankle injury. This contest has been held since 2003, and is reportedly held in Cambodia, as well.

Who can take the whole responsibility for precious bodies, legs. lives, laughters of these beautiful young ladies? No one is responsible for those lives that were lost. Today the world should stop the wars and be all of one mind. May this long-awaited peace come true on this land as soon as possible!

WHAT IS MANDELA DAY?

WHAT IS MANDELA DAY?

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead” – Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela International Day was launched in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s  birthday on 18 July, 2009 via unanimous decision of the UN General Assembly.
It was inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made a year earlier, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.
It is more than a celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy. It is a global movement to honour his life’s work and act to change the world for the better.

Fantail

Fantail

Today, we are going to learn a special bird.
The bird is called as a fantail. The bird is the kind that people artificially breed, its original kind is called a rock pigeon. When you look at this bird, you will know the reason why the bird is called a fantail. It is because the bird has a tail father like a peahen. Among those, a white fantail is a symbol of peace and it often appears at an advertisement or a wedding. Usual pigeons have 12 tail fathers, but this fantail has 20 to 30 tail fathers, and they are unrolled like a fan shape of a peahen. Gender is hard to be distinguished, while female fantail has a thin neck, male fantail has a thick neck to ruffle up feathers. They are mild which makes it easy to keep and their biological characteristic is similar to a usual pigeon.
